Anna Pagliarulo
I moved to Portland from Santa Fe, New Mexico. My formative years as a graphic designer I spent in Los Angeles. I went there, straight out of school from Philadalphia, to design movie posters, logos and ads for Universal Studios, Paramount Pictures, CBS and Fox Television. My design, driven by this experience, is simple yet conceptual, and extremely typographical.
In my late 20s I became captivated by food and moved to Santa Fe to open an Italian cafe, which was written up in its first year in Birnbaum's and Forbes FYI. After coming to my senses and selling the cafe I created a collaborative design studio which specialized in identity, advertising and marketing, and art books. Somehow I found time to guide bicycle tours in Italy for Butterfield & Robinsion over the course of several years, and upon moving to Portland I did a stint as a cellar hand at Cristom Vineyards. My wide-ranging interests do more than simply co-exist: they fuel the energy and imagination that drive my design process.
I have extensive expertise in branding, signage and collateral, as well as vast experience producing color-critical publications ranging from fine art books and catalogs to annual reports. Although my expertise is clearly in the print medium, I have art directed quite a few websites, and have found a nice niche doing e-marketing for several Willamette Valley wineries. I will work for wine!
If you want to know more, I am a mad telemark skier, saiboat racer, cyclist and avid culinary forager. Clearly I am a serious foodie and italophile, and I am fluent in Italian in case that might be useful to you.
Here I am with dinner in hand on my adopted Italian family's sailboat off the coast of Toscana - Porto Ercole, Ligurian Sea
